Transition Team Minutes : March 25,2010

Update on Administrative Issues
1. Opening registration considered a success! Last Tuesday March 23, 2010, registration opened for MCJS. That evening, 40 students were registered. While there is much work to be done, this was considered an excellent start.
Follow up calls to all families who did register and ongoing Advancement Team efforts are directed at increasing enrollment.
2. Sub Committee Update
4 Sub Committees have evolved through the work of the Transition Team (TT). Parents who want to volunteer should contact Father Francis and Carol Budisak to indicate interest.
Meeting Discussions:
The Transition Team discussed the importance of continuing to seek input from, and to communicate to the current SVS community the discussion topics, actions and decisions of the TT. To this end, the TT decided it should hold informal evening meeting in the near future open to all parents. The meeting will be scheduled for April 22, 2010 at 7pm in the library. The purpose of this meeting will be to capture any comments, suggestions and concerns that parents still have. The TT appointed Tan Miller to run this meeting and take notes on all comments, suggestion and concerns. Tan will report to the TT and the TT will attempt to address parents’ comments concerns and comments – based upon this feedback.
Advancement Team (Formerly Marketing team):
MCJS: Mike St. Pierre, Matt Alpaugh, SVS/SVA: Carol Budisak, Christine Ewart, Tim Potter
Team will build a Spring Marketing Outreach Plan. Teams from both MCHS and SVA will review and collaborate to implement.
Target audiences include Religious Ed from St Virgil as well as other Feeder Parishes.

Action: SVA and MCJS Advancement teams will meet / discuss near term outreach activities and Open Houses.
Facilities Team will be chaired by Rob Zebick and Michael Holland
Focus will be to determine how to assist St. Virgil Parish maintenance to continually improve facility and upgrade grounds and equipment with limited budget and resources
Potential ideas: Monthly Nazarene Days, By Project Recruitment of expertise (i.e. Painters, landscape, plumbing, computer etc.)
Team will reach out as needed; parents will be encouraged to volunteer their time, talent and or financial assistance.
Action: Rob and Michael will develop approach /plan to achieve continuous improvement of grounds and facilities.
H S A / Volunteer Support:
Team to be chaired by Carol Budisak and Jen Qvotrup
Current H S A to begin to develop Volunteer agreement to incorporate new model
Additional feedback on proposed H S A structure and V S A agreement to be solicited from parents during April. (after Easter).
Team is in need of assistance to automate the VSA - potential candidates are parents with skill and Scouting candidates – Gold Award.
Action: Proposed structure of H S A to be presented to existing H S A at April meeting. VSA revisions to be completed by H S A with parent input. Target date – May

Dr. Gradone has held two parent meetings. Input from parents included questions related to:

Busing:
Remains open item needing further investigation. Mike is open to this but it’s hard to project as we need more students near MC to emerge as busing candidates down to SVS.

Tan Miller to organize Parent Meeting to capture questions and concerns to bring back to TT and school leaderships.
